PLAN of MARI The Role of the Trustee

The Role of the Trustee

A Trustee can be a person or organization responsible for disbursing funds, managing the trust’s operation, and ensuring that it adheres to relevant federal and state regulations.

By law, the nonprofit organization administering a Special Needs Pooled Trust must be the Trustee. This ensures effective trust management— and relieves family members of significant responsibilities that may strain future relationships.

PLAN is considered an expert in trust administration, and in helping beneficiaries (and families) plan for the effective use of their trust funds.

Why is the Trustee Important?

With PLAN’s 50 years of experience as Trustee, beneficiaries are assured of effective, knowledgeable, and accountable trust management. PLAN handles all trust accounting, investments, tax returns, and disbursements for each trust account.

PLAN identifies which disbursements are permitted by law and which are not. And helps beneficiaries (and families) plan for the effective use of their trust funds.
