PLAN of MARI Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR)

Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR)

Since 2020, Planned Lifetime Assistance Network of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, Inc. (PLAN) has granted more than $1 Million to other nonprofits who, like PLAN, offer services to people with disabilities.  PLAN’s mission is to educate and advocate for people with disabilities by letting them know that special needs trusts are an option for their loved ones with disabilities.  We help preserve assets, protect access to public benefits and help people live well.

One of PLAN’s partners is Special Olympics Massachusetts (SOMA), who has been awarded $100,000 each year.  While the financial award is amazing, our partners realize that PLAN’s constant presence and support as a partner is equally as important.  When asked by SOMA to participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), PLAN was honored and eager to help bring awareness to all the wonderful ways that SOMA accomplishes their mission of providing year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

The LETR was created with a goal of “championing worldwide acceptance and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities.”  Law Enforcement members from all over Massachusetts will act as “Guardians of the Flame” and carry the Special Olympics Torch and “Flame of Hope”.  This run is a “salute to all of the SOMA athletes who will travel to Boston to compete in the Summer Games.”
